This is a perfect Superman story by Grant Morrison。 It deals with all aspects of the character as hero, farmer, reporter, stranger in a strange land aspects。 The only thing I would add to this is the DC 1 Million book that picks up where this leaves off。
Aramis Moon,
I'm not a superman fan。 Grant Morrison has managed to grow my interest in the character。 The story shows the humanity of superman which is not at all talked about that much。 Superheroes expressing not just their one sided mindset of good guy this is my duty stuff, Grant Morrison made superman feel。 It would be great if superhero writers went a lot deeper with the character than what's on the surface。 What an epic read, highly recommend。 I'm not a superman fan。 Grant Morrison has managed to grow my interest in the character。 The story shows the humanity of superman which is not at all talked about that much。 Superheroes expressing not just their one sided mindset of good guy this is my duty stuff, Grant Morrison made superman feel。 It would be great if superhero writers went a lot deeper with the character than what's on the surface。 What an epic read, highly recommend。 。。。more

Quintessential Superman? Quintessential Superman! For anyone who says that Superman isn't a relatable superhero, please read this。 Morrison does an incredible job when it comes to the characterisations of both Superman and Clark Kent。 It's such a touching, heart wrenching and raw experience which really explores what it's like to try and accomplish / achieve everything in your life when on a ticking clock。 I find the art to be extremely charming, but it did take me a while to get used to it as it's such a unique style which, admittedly, isn't for everyone。 Perhaps the one real gripe I have is Lois Lane who, whilst not being a badly written character, isn't as likeable as she usually is, and can come off as rather rude, cocky and a little entitled at times。 Everyone else is really well written, it's just Lois who can feel a little off at times。 Overall, I had a blast reading this and it will absolutely be one of the first comic books I recommend to people who want to dip their toes into Superman content。 。。。more

I did not enjoy this, at all。 As many other people, I came to this story knowing that a lot of people define it as the best Superman comicbok。 Far from it, I haven't read a lot of Superman stories, but this is still far from being the best, personally。 It's not a case of "the hype killed it", I can't say a enjoyed a thing out of this issue。For starters, I found the art atrocious, I didn't like it one bit, especially the faces which were weirdly drawn and inked。 Besides the drawing and inking, co I did not enjoy this, at all。 As many other people, I came to this story knowing that a lot of people define it as the best Superman comicbok。 Far from it, I haven't read a lot of Superman stories, but this is still far from being the best, personally。 It's not a case of "the hype killed it", I can't say a enjoyed a thing out of this issue。For starters, I found the art atrocious, I didn't like it one bit, especially the faces which were weirdly drawn and inked。 Besides the drawing and inking, colouring was okay, not bad at least。As for the story, I didn't felt engaged with it for a single moment。 The stakes, for one, didn't feel high at any point。 Lois' character and her relationship with Clark felt completely off, the Bizarro storyline。。。 Not for me, All-Star Superman fell very short from what the consensus told me。Up in the Sky or Secret Identity are a much better Superman comics in my opinion。 。。。more

Loved Superman when you were a kid? Then you’ve GOT to read this one。 Insanely beautiful art, crazy smart plotting, characterization at pure genius level。 Like finally being able to trade up from the elderly Focus you had since college (no offense) to a shining brand spanking new Charger。 Total buzz。 Don’t wait buy it now。

AMAZING CLASSIC SUPERMAN!! art is amazing。 and constantly interesting and ever changing story with strong characters
Ben,
This is a great example of a book I recognize as something really special and fantastic - and yet kind of misses the mark with my personal tastes。The writing and art are top-notch, I won’t deny it… Do I love Morrison and Quitely’s styles? Not particularly! But I respect them。Nearly every page of this feels like there’s an homage to some aspect of Superman’s history just peeking around the corner。 And I feel like quite a bit of it was lost on me, not being as well-read of his stories as I could b This is a great example of a book I recognize as something really special and fantastic - and yet kind of misses the mark with my personal tastes。The writing and art are top-notch, I won’t deny it… Do I love Morrison and Quitely’s styles? This is how superman should be written, none of this dumb Jesus metaphor nonsense。
Javier X,
It was great but kinda long in the way that it took 12 issues to give a very quick closure to the main plot。The art is a choice tho, at least the story was kinda entertaining and one of the best ones I’ve read of Superman。
Savi,
I will admit that as far as superheroes go, Superman is not one of my favourites。 I usually find it only very mildly entertaining to read about him, but I really didn't expect to be this disappointed reading this book。 Based on the reviews and the kudos handed to it, I expected myself to at least enjoy it a fair bit but for the most part it just bored me。 There were a couple of good bits but that whole chapter that was(view spoiler)[pretty much dedicated to Lois being reduced to an object over w I will admit that as far as superheroes go, Superman is not one of my favourites。 I usually find it only very mildly entertaining to read about him, but I really didn't expect to be this disappointed reading this book。 Based on the reviews and the kudos handed to it, I expected myself to at least enjoy it a fair bit but for the most part it just bored me。 There were a couple of good bits but that whole chapter that was(view spoiler)[pretty much dedicated to Lois being reduced to an object over which three men lusted over was just too much to bear for my tastes (hide spoiler)]。 Maybe I'm just not the target audience for Superman and I better just give up。 。。。more

I think I went into this with maybe a little too much hype。 This story just didn't do it for me personally。 Though there were some great moments, I'm just not attached enough to Silver Age Superman to really love this book, and all the references to classic Silver Age plots just make this feel a slightly disjointed collection of "Superman gets involved in random stuff and also he's dying。"Also, I know it's supposed to be a gag, but Lois Lane just refusing to believe that Superman is Clark just r I think I went into this with maybe a little too much hype。 This story just didn't do it for me personally。 Though there were some great moments, I'm just not attached enough to Silver Age Superman to really love this book, and all the references to classic Silver Age plots just make this feel a slightly disjointed collection of "Superman gets involved in random stuff and also he's dying。"Also, I know it's supposed to be a gag, but Lois Lane just refusing to believe that Superman is Clark just really kind of hurts。 The Reign of the Supermen sold the Lois/Clark romance more than this, and that was primarily a pulpy just-for-fun-and-also-sales-from-the-gimmick story rather than a serious exploration of the Superman mythos。 。。。more

Strong 7 I don’t think this is good for the reasons others do it’s kinda so bad it’s good like it has so many dumb tropes in it an insane amount of exposition using sci fi sounding words to sound smart It was pretty funny and enjoyable but not for the reasons i think it was meant to be
Diego Munoz,
4 1/2 rounded up to 5 from me。 The art and coloring are masterful。 Frank Quitley has a distinctive style, one that deserves repeated viewings。 The story is great also。 Superman is dying, but there are a number of things he needs to complete first。 Along the way, there are lots of interesting characters and scenarios。 I got a little lost at times with all the jargon and sci-fi plot lines, but it was nice that each chapter basically started a new story or adventure。 Highly recommended。

This offers a sometimes played out premise but with twist at what if Superman dies … but because of cancer? This book highlights Superman’s intelligence unlike many other books he is in。 This comic book is an overall good book with an interesting premise and will keep you hooked for the most part。
